In response to the invitation for public comment from the White House Environmental Justice Advisory Council (WHEJAC), EPIC submitted comments in collaboration with the Hispanic Access Foundation, Center for Progressive Reform, Center for Neighborhood Technology, One Tree Planted, The Undivide Project, Beech Hill Research, and Native American Fish and Wildlife. We recommend:

    • Showing data cumulatively,

    • Revising the economic screening tool,

    • Including filters by category, and

    • Setting stronger standards for community involvement and agency guidance.

  • Promoting meaningful community engagement and involvment in the Environmental Justice Scorecard’s continued development.

  • Bolstering tribally led initiatives and databases that are geared towards specific tribes or regions of tribes to promote environmental and climate justice.

  • Extending the public comment period to 90-days.
